A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO WELLNESS
As
a Registered Nurse and Marriage and Family Therapist with over
twenty-five years of experience in the health care industry, I
have long believed in a holistic approach to wellness. I assist
my clients to identify and achieve lifestyle changes that will
enable them to balance and integrate their physical, mental, and
spiritual aspects.
During my career as an RN I have seen both the
positive and negative results of modern medicine first hand. I
realized early on in my career that nutrition is the foundation
of health. Though I was raised by a nutritionally savvy mother
I neglected my health during my teens and early adulthood. I eventually
began to experience increasing signs and symptoms of allergies
and chemical sensitivities.
I read many books and articles on health and diet.
This resulted in a hit-or-miss approach towards achieving my goal
of optimal health. I also became interested in alternative and
complementary medicine. Again I applied a hit-or-miss approach
and experienced some very exciting results along with some negligible
results.
My search resulted in discovering and enrolling in an educational
program which taught me not only how to build a solid nutritional
foundation, but also the concept of biochemical individuality,
that each person’s needs are unique. I was intrigued by this
holistic view point. Utilizing this information I soon became aware
of positive changes in my overall health along with that of my
early clients.
As a certified nutritional therapy practitioner
working under the auspices of the Nutritional Therapy Association,
I am skilled in assisting and supporting clients to build a solid
nutritional foundation while addressing their biochemical individuality.
I also bring to my practice a strong background in nursing and
mental health therapy.
